The Victory Theatre (in the heart of the Shtetl) has a fantastic line-up of talent on their stage during April and May.
The Vic will be bringing their world famous Africa Umoja show back from 7 May - just in time for the World Cup.
But for the month of April, the stage will not be empty.
Victory Theatre management has put together a full and exciting new program for the month of April. Theatre-goers can can take advantage of the safe and secure environment with four levels of secure on-site parkingto to enjoy a complete evening out.
There is live entertainment at the Jazz Bar and a superb menu at Giovanni’s Restaurant.

Glenys Lynne and 4 Jacks & A Jill – The Greatest Hits
The name 4 JACKS & A JILL is instantly synonymous with sentimental evocation. In the mere mentioning of this group, songs like Master Jack, Timothy, Ramaja, Jimmy come lately, and a long list of others transport us back to an era of true musical genius.
Glenys Lynne and the 4 Jacks reunite as South Africa’s biggest and most popular group ever. It’s safe to call them SA’s very own Beatles. It’s also worth mentioning that they’ve attained greater heights than any other South African artist – in the past 5 years alone, they’ve sold more than a million CDs.
The Victory Theatre is proud to be the venue for the public launch and live DVD recording of the brand new album - bigger, better and even more brilliant than ever before. Showcasing all of their greatest hits, each track has been meticulously renovated to create a fresh and invigorating version. The Alter Irving Band
Come and relive the past with some of SA’s biggest legends. Cindy Alter from Clout-fame teams up with Stewart Irving of Ballyhoo (Man on the Moon) fame, making up this unique band with years of experience.
They’ve teamed up with a somewhat fantastic band of merry men to provide the instrumental accompaniment, including Garth and Leon from Mean Mr Mustard and Arno from Diamond Dogs – in a fanastic line-up of songs fusing together modern country with folk rock.
This is also a once-off show on 28 April 2010 with tickets priced between just R75 and R100 (or a Meal-&-Show for R200).
MEAN MR MUSTARD
One of South Africa's longest and most successful running bands having produced many hits like Build Me Up Buttercup, Only When It Rains and Secret Places and are now launching their 5th album, featuring the hit single, Angel. With a whole new feel, brand new original tracks, Mean Mr Mustard also features a hot new line-up of with Andries Botha on vocals & lead guitar; Garth Potterton (original Mustard member & guitar); Fred Kirsten on bass and Lawrence Bezuidenhout on drums.

THE GARTH TAYLOR BAND
The last of the Vic’s once-off performances is back on their stage by by popular demand. Garth Taylor hits the stage in full force showcasing all of his hits off his latest album, Stripped Down Soul’d Out including the much loved favourite, ‘Why’, ‘If I Gave You My Soul’ and the latest hit single, ‘Home Again’. Garth Taylor stays true to his style, creating a fusion of jazz, soul and funk that promises to deliver everything that fans have come to expect from this talented artist.

AFRICA UMOJA coming home
AFRICA UMOJA will return to the stage of its home, The Victory Theatre on 7 May leading into the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

For the first time in 10 years, the proudly South African and world-acclaimed musical production, AFRICA UMOJA, will explode in song and dance at the South African State Theatre this April. Travelling on the beats of drums, AFRICA UMOJA is a loud, colourful and jubilant celebration of indigenous South African music and dance, which audiences – whatever their cultural backgrounds – have found infectiously delightful and uplifting. The story dances through the shebeens; the pounding energy of kwaito and pantsula; the explosions of gumboot dancing; the reminiscent sounds of vibrant jazz; and full throated joy of gospel music – all of which saw black South African through some of the country’s stormiest historical passages. Catch Africa Umoja at The Opera Theatre: The State Theatre in Pretoria from 10 April to 2 may on Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8pm and on Sundays at 3pm. There are also school matinees on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11am.
